Christmas Holidays

Looked at the tracking data for each year group to identify key areas of learners who are not making progress.
Created a proforma to identify these and put in place interventions.

Week beg 16/12/13

17/12/13 -Prepared information to share with CM on Wednesday.

18/12/13 CM came to work for the day.
We prepared the INSET for the first day back (agenda)
- multiplication and division ( with practical)
- using and applying
- planning for a new curriculum.
We looked at amendments to calculation policy ( to work with KK on this in the new year.)
Looked at NC and a progression map.
 Looked also at how a school can produce a maths scheme of work.

19/12 - 20/12/13 - Worked on the agenda, resources, plan for the INSET on the first day back in the new year.

Week beg 9/12/13

Continued to give out maths order. Ordered Collins book 6B for Year 6 Went through APP with SC, Year 3 and Year 4. All staff completed maths tracking for this term. CM cancelled until next week.

Week beg 2.12.13

Met with RG re: new planning, targets, assessment, CENTs meeting and new curriculum. Passed over details to be discussed in the SLT day.

3/12 - Acting head teacher for the day

4/12 - led the Advent prayers

4/12 - unpacked and gave out the first set of new resources which arrived in school.

5/12 - updated website.

6/12 - moderated maths APP with SC.

Week Beg 25/11/13

Completed trialling new planning for a unit in Year 6. We will try using it for the next three weeks then feedback to SLT.

Completed and sent off second maths order for class resources / whole school shape resources.

Wrote a memo about assessment following APP ( can do tests to support.)

27/11/13 - Acting Head teacher for the day.

Read through NC in preparation for CENTS meeting.

28/11/13 - Attended CENTS meeting about New Curriculum, challenges and how we are to assess. Met with Collins rep to see new resources.

Wrote a draft medium term plan for maths in school.

Week Beginning 18/11/13

No maths time this week. (LK out)

Took four Year 6 children after school on Wednesday to ABI for maths challenge against 8 schools. Holy Souls were the winners!

Spent time before school giving out the remainder of the maths resources and clarifying new orders for resources.

Met with RG for performance management feedback.

Met with RG to discuss peer observation for some staff member to support their PM.

A pre-PGCE student shadowed me on Thursday to see learning in Yr 6.

Gave advice to KMc and KW about end of term assessments and how to support their APP assessment.

Week beginning 11/11/13

Spent release time researching / identifying and making Maths resources order. There are still a few elements to chase / complete.

Have started to trial new proposed way of planning on Block E unit 1 in Year six.

Performance Management for all teachers this week has been completed. The main focus was maths. Ask for feedback from RG.

Have completed teaching the algebra to Year 6 Level 6 focus groups.

Selected the children for the maths challenge next week and wrote to their parents.

Subject leader meeting with SLT on Thursday looking at link Govs, action plans, resources and budget.

Week beg 4/11/13

INSET 4/11/13

 

Led an INSET with CM with a focus on practical maths. In the morning we looked at addition and subtraction and place value using different practical methods.

 

In the afternoon I fed back on book scrutiny and we discussed marking to close the gap.

 

New resources were given out to each year group to use.

 

5/11/13

 

Worked with CM on action plan. Useful discussion against SDP.

Discussed planning and CM modelled best practice using steps to success and barriers to learning.

Discussed INSET for 6/1/13.

Discussed a set of points raised by KK about subject knowledge, time allowance given to lessons and when we teach maths.

AC to work on new planning / new resources / number sense calculation policy and feedback these ideas to SLT.

Actions 21/10/13 to 25/10/13 and half term

Maths release time used to unpack and sort all the new maths resources. A list of all that has been bought ( and where it shall be stored) has been typed up for all members of staff. 

Action plan for Maths 2013-14 completed and sent to RG.

25/10 Time out of class on Friday to prepare for INSET on Nov 4th. Agenda / handouts / book scrutiny criteria were all prepared and copied. All the practical resources have been set out ready to use during the teacher day.

Email exchanged with PM about potential CENTs meeting next half term.

Over half term next part of maths order has been drafted and areas to discuss with CM on 5/11 have been prepared.

Actions this week 14/10/13 - 18/10/13

Release time moved from Monday to Wednesday.

Met with ML and subject leaders Re: Action Plan. Have started to re-write the action plan for year 2013-14.

Trialled new way of tracking pupils in school integrating points progress and interventions.

Attended espresso webinar after school on Thursday to see the resources online for the changes in the maths curriculum.

MPU off this week therefore her maths interventions did not take place.

Actions this week 7/10 - 11/10/13

Drafted paragraph for the school newsletter to explain why we are not continuing our registration to Mathletics.

Unpacked and checked initial orders from ESPO and YPO. More are to follow.

Met with RG re proposed maths trial in BH's group. This was approved.

Met with RG for Performance Management discussion, discussing my role as Maths Coordinator.

Updated the school maths resources list and saved this on the server in Maths 2013-14 for all staff to access.

Checked KS2 Maths interventions for this half term. ( Who is targeted and how they are supported.)

Actions this week 30/9 - 4/10

1/10 - Handed in first resource order for the Autumn term to RG

3/10 - Emailed CENTS group and CM with recourse for our INSET.

4/10 - Time out of class to assess the Year 6 continuity tests, met with MPu to discuss her maths interventions and maths support role in Yr 3, 4 and 6. Also met with BH to discuss her proposed changes to planning for her maths group.

5/10 - Bought resources from IKEA and high street stores for 'counting' as recommended by CM.

Week beg 23/9/13

This week I have copied and given out the continuity tests for Yr 2 - 6 to be carried out next week.

I have created the assessment grids for class teacher's to fill in next week.

I have worked with MM to determine the most useful tests for the children in her group.

I have met with DM re problem solving and the best way to conduct open ended investigations with Yr 4.

I have met with Yr 6 for PPM and written up the maths interventions for Yr 6 this year.

I have set up the new interventions folder for maths this half term. All CTs are in the process of filling these in for their current classes or maths groupings.

I have begun to write an audit of maths resources and where they are currently located in the school.

Friday 20th September

CM returned to school for a half day of support with AC.

Set agenda for inset on Monday 4th November.

Looked at staff skills audit and areas which need to be addressed.

Conducted a Maths resources audit around school.

Reviewed resources which now need to be bought ( order discussion.)

Reviewed overall findings of whole school book scrutiny ( of last year's books)

20th-22nd September -
 AC created draft agenda for INSET.
AC drafted key points for staff to conduct their own book scrutiny against.
AC compared resource prices for order.
AC drafted into to afternoon session for inset ( findings from book scrutiny // how to improve marking in maths.)

Week beg 9/9/13

9/9/13 - attended BCPP course on the new curriculum for Literacy and Maths curriculum.

10/9/13 - Spent day with CM maths consultant. Spent the morning conducting Maths learning walks and the afternoon conducting a book scrutiny and resources discussion.

12/9/13 - release time for Maths tracking analysis for last year's data.

Weekend 14-16/9/13 - Completed maths tracking analysis and continued book scrutiny for Year 3 and 5.

8th September

Reviewed the Subject knowledge audits and collated a list of week areas to address at school.
Also made specific notes shared with me by members of staff.

2nd September 2013

Led part of an INSET session.

Introduced a subject knowledge audit for all staff to fill in.
Introduced Mad Minutes to trial over the next half term with a focus on basic skills.
Showed an example of a visual display for the number 32.
Fed back on the Continuity tests from last year - what went well and what needs to be focused on this year.

Reviewed Maths Coordinator folders from MPU.

Planned term one of Level 6 maths.

Organised the three maths groups for Year 6

Moderated and reviewed the calculations used by Yr2 - 6 in our calculations booklets at the end of term.

Prepared and reviewed resources and information to be given out on INSET day 2/9/13.
